TREE FOLLOWING BOX for OCTOBER

Buddleia flowers die and Old Man's Beard catches the eye
Buddleia flowers are dying.
Many of these skeletons will hang from their trees all winter.
September 24th 2014
This is about the daftess thing ever. How could I not realise the 7th was so close?

I woke up this morning, pottered around making tea and watching the news on the television.  I looked out at the day. Murky at first but brightening. Maybe for the first time in ages I'd take pictures of my tree in sunlight instead of dingy-about-to-rain-ness ready for tomorrow's Tree Following. First though I'd check emails.

In the bottom right of my screen is a little calendar.

It says it's the 7th.

So I'm springing into embarrassed action. Here's the rushed link box - accompanied as yet by no introductory text or pictures or anything except panic.

Will vamp it up later.

Million apologies!

Message From a Tree Follower
Linda of Linda's Wildlife Garden has sent a message to let us know she is not posting about her apple trees this month. She is being evicted from her home and is too busy house hunting to blog. With a family of Linda, her husband and her three dogs this is not an easy task. Best wishes Linda. May you find somewhere soon.

Phew - so pleased that you're OK. I've been a muddle with dates recently too - there must be something in the air...

HI Lucy,I am really frustrated as I have written my Tree Following post but as my laptop is terminally ill I have written the post on no less than 4 devices. Needless to say I can't post a link with Mr Kinky. My post is called 'I had a little fig tree...' and it is on my blog at www.hoehoegrow.co.uk

Ps Have just spotted my typo!!Love Mr Kinky!!!

It came as a surprise to me too, who stole Summer? Cathy

Thank you, Lucy, for your kind comments. I am amazed to discover on my virtual journey how few trees (acers apart) are bearing bright autumn colours yet. Perhaps the wind that's blowing will speed autumn along (not that I'm in any hurry for it really!).

Somehow I managed to miss last month's update completely - but there's a double update from me this time round :)

Glad you remembered in time Lucy to post and host this month - tempus fugit and all that as well as our thanks.
Managed a relatively quickie look at the Hornbeam though it has not done anything dramatic since last month

So. I had it ready early but posted it late. This is pretty neat learning about trees in other parts of the world. Shhh ... but I think (some) people neglect the value of trees in favor of posting pretty flowers. I love the trees best.

Sorry I'm a bit late, but thank you so much for hosting this! It has been a fascinating meme to follow and to participate in. Have a wonderful weekend!

I did get my post in to you, so hopefully you got it ok. I seem to always be caught at the last minute. You are amazing, to be handling so many of us when we are often slow and you have your own stuff to do. Many thanks for all your dedicated work!

A quick note to Trella. Thanks for leaving this note. I've looked back at my mail. A gap of empty space had introduced itself between your message and the text / pictures so I didn't see them and thought I was still waiting for them to arrive. Now I've found them I'll post them pronto! Apologies.

Hi Lucy, that sounds horribly familiar, in fact TNG and I were just commenting on the fact that the Air Source Heat Pump installation starts tomorrow. Tomorrow! We thought we still had ages to clear up!! But hey, we're not being evicted like poor Linda.

Phew, VERY busy at work at the moment, so I'm pleased I have just managed to get this done in time before you cut me off!
I look forward to looking at everyone's trees (I've seen a couple already) and properly reading their comments on this post...
All the best to everyone :)

Lucy, I love your idea of 'following a tree', which I discovered through Donna's Gardens Eye View blog. I'll have to pick a tree, and join in. I love trees, and have lots of photos of big old ones around here.

Phew, I've just made it! The date took me by surprise too, and then I had to wait for some of the worst storms in ages to pass by… phew x 2

Hope you don't mind me joining in so late in the year. Brilliant Idea! Gillian

This time of year seems madly busy in blog world. Despite my own busyness I'm looking forward to reading the tree posts. I'm counting on seeing some beautiful autumn colours.

Just crept in under the wire, before this month's post box closes. Thank goodness I made it -- so I can share the news about my new website www.siteandinsight.com The latest post, made a few moments ago, is full of thanks (yesterday was Canadian Thanksgiving), to Lucy and to all of you who have posted about your trees. It's such a great way to connect to other tree lovers! At the end of this month's post, I ask a question -- would love to hear your responses!

Hi Lucy, had chance to comment on most of the tree following blogs (of work). You have done a great job and people are really enjoying doing their post, and have learned a lot along the way.
One observation I have made is the weather, we all mention it, but not really record it as part of our observations, so hope do this more especially if I follow this tree for another year.
Did you find out what Sheild bugs do during the winter, it had crossed my mind.
